Clinical Evaluation of Homeosor Cactus (Arteriosor) in the treatment of symptomatic hypertension at the extrahospitalary emergency service.

Summary:

A stage II controlled clinical trial with Homeosor Cactus (Arteriosor), a homeopathic complex remedy, with a sample of 53 patients of both genders diagnosed with a symptomatic rise in blood pressure or Hypertensive Crisis. The remedy was administered orally and had to be taken sublingual, at a dose of 5 drops every 10, 15, 20 and 30 minutes after the diagnoses was made. Blood tension figures were taken as a main variable of the efficacy. The inclusion took place at the Medical Service of the International Airport José Martí in City of Havana, Cuba.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Homeosor Cactus (Arteriosor), a  homeopathic complex remedy, in a sample of 53 patients, both male and female, diagnosed with a symptomatic rise in blood pressure or hypertensive crisis.

Study design: A stage II controlled clinical trial.

Patients: 53 patients were included within the clinical trial, Cuban citizens, both male and female, who attended to the medical consultory at the emergency service from the José Martí Airport during 2005, where they were diagnosed with a symptomatic rise in blood pressure or hypertensive crisis.

Treatment: Homeosor Cactus (Arteriosor), 5 drops diluted with water to be taken  sublingual every 10, 15, 20 and 30 minutes after the hypertensive crisis.

Composition:

Equal parts of: Strophantus gratus D6, Crataegus oxycantha D6, Glonoinum D4, Aconitum napellus D6, Spigelia anthelmia D4, Aurum chloratum D6, Ammi visnaga D6, Cactus grandiflorus D5. Excipient: Ethanol 35% (Vol.).

Results: From the 53 patients included in the trial, 98,2 % experienced an improvement or normalization of their blood pressure 30 minutes after having taken the homeopathic complex remedy None of the participants abandoned the trial, nor any adverse effects were reported.

Conclusions: Homeosor Cactus showed a good efficacy and safety profile.
